Each year I record Summer. With one photo a day. Each August. 31 images with captions from the heart.
So here it is, August 2018. I captured Summer for you, Jelle and Isa. And I cherish these photos as I hope to pass them onto you as a gift from me, your mother, who loves you dearly and who wants you to have these images as a memory of your childhood.
It has been an absolute privilege to observe, follow and capture the both of you this Summer and I hope you like these.
I am proud and grateful to be your mother.
Day 1. You climb, you rise, you fall. But you always get back up. Together.
Day 2 – Morning introversion. Each day brings you a new journey.
Day 3 – You look at me and my whole soul melts with love. You know me better than I know myself.
Day 4 – Venice from a different angle. Hold back for no one, my darling, and always find your own perspective.
Day 5 – When night falls and the ducks follow you around, you marvel at nature.
Day 6 – Because everything looks so fun through pink swimming goggles.
Day 7 – When Dad finds the best gluten-free pizza place! The three of you rock my world and help me grow as a mama, a friend, a human. I thank you from every fibre of my being.
Day 8 – When life gives you a zip line, you embrace it with a big cheer.
Day 9 – Each day you give it your all. You live your life to the fullest and inspire everyone around you by doing so.
Day 10 – On top of the world with nothing but wind and your downward track. Be sure to travel with your heart in mind and enjoy each step on the way.
Day 11 – You are so strong and stubborn, but cute and adorable at the same time, I just never can stay mad at you.
Day 12 – Someone broke into my Project Summer and created today’s picture that sums it all up.
Day 13 – Yay, a whole week of fun and play! You are such an artist, a performer and I admire you for that.
Day 14 – Home + Lego. This is perfection.
Day 15 – Always lunch with swag. And your purple unicorn.
Day 16 – Think of the world. Then a 1,000,000,000,000 times bigger. That’s how far your imagination reaches, my little wonderer.
Day 17 – Indoor camping with Captain Underpants. Can I get an amen?
Day 18 – Because we ran out of raspberries.
Day 19 – My curious chef and gourmet cook. You are my mini-me in the kitchen.
Day 20 – Back To School. But still in holiday mode. I miss you two already as I take this picture.
Day 21 – In mom and dad’s big bed. That’s where you love to play most. You are always welcome, my sweetheart.
Day 22 – Sleepy tunes and Hello Kitty. Life is perfect when you are 5 years old.
Day 23 – “I love you. But not right now.” “Yes, you do.” “No. But I love you anyhow. Now sit still.”
Day 24 – When life gives you pink glasses, all is well.
Day 25 – Pottering about in the garden with the watering can and the plants. That’s where I find you two most of the times.
Day 26 – Sporty Hero Dad. Oh how you look up to him. It warms my heart when I see the three of you together. I hope your life will always be filled movement, health and creativity.
Day 27 – Yes, laundry fresh out of the dryer just cuddles best.
Day 28 – Today you are Princess Dancer and a Ninja Warrior Knight. That’s kind a cool.
Day 29 – In my eyes you are perfect. Just stay exactly as you are: true to yourself and life will be a wonderful place for you to thrive in.
Day 30 – TV. Snacks. Period.
Day 31 – The place where it all boils down to: the garden playhouse. For all your make belief and daily meetings.
